Points Based System [PBS] launched today
29th February 2008

The new Points Based System [PBS] is taking effect from today; Tier 1 for Highly Skilled Migrants is the first of five separate Tiers, providing a robust and measured means of ensuring that only the best can work in Britain. Other changes include the introduction of new licences for employers that wish to employ migrant workers, which will be a mandatory requirement for Tier 2 Work Permit applications, which are due to take effect in Autumn 2008, together with on-the-spot fines being issued to those employers that do not confirm to the rules and anyone found hiring illegal workers in the UK.

Thank you for your enquiry, to apply for a UK Work Permit you must have a current job offer from a UK employer.

Why do I need a Job Offer?
A Work Permit is a legal permission that is issued to an employer for a skilled post. Though you may qualify for a UK work permit we cannot find you a job in the UK. You need to have a job offer before we can assess your case.

How do I apply for jobs?
We cannot find you a job, this is your responsibility You should apply directly to UK Companies on the strength of your work experience and qualifications. Look for permanent positions as the recruitment agencies cannot apply for a work permit for you, only the end employer. However, the agencies can locate a permanent position for you.

I have now been offered a post with a UK employer. What do I do next?
Once you have secured a UK job offer, we can manage the process on behalf of the UK employer. We work on a No-Win, No-Fee basis. We will provide a full list of the most appropriate documents required to make a successful case.

Please come back to me with any questions and we will try to answer them. You will need to be very determined to find your UK job and tell the employer that you have found a specialist work permit and immigration company that can manage the process. We can talk to any employer about the process.

We will need to see copies of the following to assess your chances for a work permit:-

  1. An up to date copy of your CV
  2. A photocopy of your passport pages
  3. A full job description and salary for the post you have been offered

Are there any other options instead of a Work Permit?
Alternatively, if you are seeking to remain employed through an agency in a locum capacity or wish to remain eligible to work for several different employers, you could qualify for HSMP [Highly Skilled Migrant Programme] providing you can provide sufficient original evidence to demonstrate that you meet 65 points or more. This type of permit is issued to the individual and does not require a job offer from a UK employer. See our HSMP POINTS CALCULATOR.
