Points Based System [PBS] launched today
29th February 2008

The new Points Based System [PBS] is taking effect from today; Tier 1 for Highly Skilled Migrants is the first of five separate Tiers, providing a robust and measured means of ensuring that only the best can work in Britain. Other changes include the introduction of new licences for employers that wish to employ migrant workers, which will be a mandatory requirement for Tier 2 Work Permit applications, which are due to take effect in Autumn 2008, together with on-the-spot fines being issued to those employers that do not confirm to the rules and anyone found hiring illegal workers in the UK.

We have made a Work Permit application and it has been refused. What can we do?
You can apply for an independent review of the work permit decision at the Home Office. The decision whether to approve or refuse a work permit application can be complex. Whilst you may not agree with the work permit decision, it may be faster and more likely to succeed if we make a fresh work permit application on your behalf.

Can we make a fresh Work Permit application successfully? Or will the Home Office still refuse the application based on the previous refusal?
The fact that the work permit has been refused before, does not mean that it cannot be successful on a fresh application. Before a new work permit application can be made, we need to ensure that the file is full supported, addressing the previous reasons for the work permit being refused.

We would like you make an assessment of our case. What do we do next?
Contact us for a free work permit assessment.  You will need to provide us details of the previous refusal, together with copies of the individual’s CV, passport pages and full details of the post that you have offered. In most cases you will also be required to show evidence of how you have recruited this person.

Can you Work Permit refusal on a No-Win No-Fee basis?
If a work permit application has been refused, we may quote the work on a fixed-fee basis, to cover our time spent prior to an application being submitted. We will advise you on your chances of making a successful work permit application, together with a quote for undertaking this work on your behalf. We will discuss the level of risk, issues we need to address and how we can make a successful application. Our fees will need to be agreed with you in writing prior to any work taking place.
