Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP) Extensions - Assessment

If you wish to stay on the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP) for a period longer than it was originally granted then you will need to apply for HSMP extension. We can manage your application to extend your HSMP, even if we did not manage the original application that was approved. Under the rules for HSMP announced on 7th November 2006, all extensions must meet the new 75 point criteria in order to extend any HSMP visa. You must meet the criteria under the new scheme even if your previous HSMP application was granted under the old system. The MBA & GP provisions no longer count towards your score and must be met in other areas. Individuals wishing to apply for further leave to remain under the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme must meet the basic requirements of the FLR application as well as successfully claim a minimum of 75 points under the HSMP Extension requirements. The areas you can claim points for an HSMP Extension are: Age You will gain points according to your age when your extension application is submitted to the Home Office. The age criteria has changed and are now split into 29 years or less, 30 or 31 years and 32 or 33 years, please note that no points are awarded if you are over 34 years of age . Qualifications Your qualifications will be counted towards your points in the same way as if it was an initial application. You must still provide original supporting documents to prove this, copies will not be accepted . Previous Earnings Points for previous earnings are calculated depending on the length of your initial HSMP approval, 12 or 24 months. UK Experience It is still possible to gain points for this category in an HSMP extension, however the score you will be awarded depends on the length of your original approval (12 or 24 months) points are awarded for high earners within last 12 months. English Language Applicants must have IELTS (International English Language Testing System) level 6 or above or have a bachelors degree, taught in English and of equivalent level to a UK bachelors degree. |
