Points Based System [PBS] launched today
29th February 2008

The new Points Based System [PBS] is taking effect from today; Tier 1 for Highly Skilled Migrants is the first of five separate Tiers, providing a robust and measured means of ensuring that only the best can work in Britain. Other changes include the introduction of new licences for employers that wish to employ migrant workers, which will be a mandatory requirement for Tier 2 Work Permit applications, which are due to take effect in Autumn 2008, together with on-the-spot fines being issued to those employers that do not confirm to the rules and anyone found hiring illegal workers in the UK.

If you are seeking permission to enter or remain in the UK on a visitor visa, we have a team of qualified and experienced UK immigration professionals that can provide you with full and accurate information and guidance on how to make an effective application.

There are several different types of status that allow individuals to enter / remain in the UK as a visitor; for vacation, family visits and business purposes. A visitor cannot work in the UK. You should always seek professional advice to ensure that you are making the correct application for your needs.

We can provide you with detailed advice on what options are available, to ensure that your visitor visa application stands the best chance for success. We have proven experience in managing these types of applications. We can provide you with an assessment based on our experience of managing similar cases, details of any timing / immigration issues involved and a quote for managing this application on your behalf.

The Home Office will assess your application against your intentions to remain in the UK under the conditions attached to a visitor visa; you will also be required to show that you can maintain yourself in the UK without access to public funds. If you instruct us to act on your behalf, we will make sure that the file is supported with full and correct documentation and that you are given the best chance for success.

The rules that surround spouse visas can be quite complex. Making an incorrect or poorly supported application could jeopardise your chances of remaining in the UK.

If you have previously made an application for permission to enter / remain in the UK as a visitor which has been refused, you may be entitled to appeal against the decision. However, this does depend on the individual circumstances surrounding the case, together with the type of visitor visa that you initially applied for.

If you would like to instruct us to manage an application for a visitor visa on your behalf, please contact our offices. You can speak to a qualified and experienced professional who can provide you with advice and guidance on your visitor visa.
