Points Based System [PBS] launched today
29th February 2008
The new Points Based System [PBS] is taking effect from today; Tier 1 for Highly Skilled Migrants is the first of five separate Tiers, providing a robust and measured means of ensuring that only the best can work in Britain. Other changes include the introduction of new licences for employers that wish to employ migrant workers, which will be a mandatory requirement for Tier 2 Work Permit applications, which are due to take effect in Autumn 2008, together with on-the-spot fines being issued to those employers that do not confirm to the rules and anyone found hiring illegal workers in the UK.

What is a Work Permit?
A work permit is a legal permission that is issued to your employer, by the Home Office. This gives you permission to be employed in a specific company for a set duration of time.

What is the Work Permit process? How long does the process take?
Most work permit applications take between 1 -2 weeks for the Home Office to decide. We will provide you with details of any timing and/or immigration issues from the outset.

What does No-Win No-Fee mean?
All fees are agreed upfront prior to any work taking place. If your work permit application is not successful, we will refund the fees back to you, less a £55 administration fee. If the case is particularly complicated, we may quote you on a fixed –fee basis, which will need to be agreed at the time of instruction.

How do I apply for a Work Permit?
If you have a job offer from a UK employer, contact us for a free work permit assessment. You will need to provide us with your CV, passport pages and full details of the post that you have been offered. We will advise you on your chances of making a successful work permit application, together with a quote for undertaking this work on your behalf.

I do not have a job offer? Can you still help me apply for a Work Permit?
If you have not been offered a position within a UK company, then you cannot make a work permit application. You need to speak to recruitment agencies and employers directly. Alternatively you may be eligible for the Highly Skilled Migrant [HSMP] scheme. If you think you may be eligible you will need to complete our HSMP assessment form.
