Further Leave to Remain (FLR)

Applying for Further Leave to Remain means making an application to extend your time in the UK for a set period and obtain a new stamp in your passport granting you Limited Leave to Remain in the UK.

There are many types of Limited Leave to Remain, such as student, work permit holder, highly skilled migrant, spouse and dependent.

If you are attempting to change your Limited Leave to Remain from one category to another (switching) you need to remember that there are specific rules that stop you doing this in many cases. For example you cannot switch from being a student to being a highly skilled migrant or work permit holder unless you have completed a degree level or above course from a recognised university while you are in the UK.
