Tier 2 Visa

Individuals that have been offered employment with a licenced sponsor would be required to make an application under Tier 2 of the Points Based System. This category applies to skilled people with a job offer who are looking for employment in the United Kingdom. It also applies to sponsors who are transferring employees within an organisation to a skilled job in the United Kingdom.  

In addition to being able to show that the person has enough points to qualify, the applicant will also be required to show evidence that there is a licensed sponsor in the United Kingdom who is supporting the application.  The sponsor must be a business in the United Kingdom and be licenced by the UK Border Agency before an application can be made under Tier 2 of the Points Based System. 

Religious workers are permitted under Tier 2 of the Points Based System, together with visiting religious workers [provided that the do not wish to remain in the UK for longer than 2 years]. In both case the religious worker must be sponsored by a licenced religious institution and hold the relevant faith body endorsement. 

Sportspeople seeking to establish themselves in the UK can also make an application under Tier 2. The applicant will need to be sponsored by a sports club. The sponsor will be required to possess a sponsorship licence and a current Governing Body Endorsement from the governing body for their sport nominated for this purpose.
