Tier 1 General
Extension applications
The Tier 1 General extension criteria will change depending on the date you were last granted leave as a Tier 1 General migrant. There are transitional arrangements in place for those who previously entered in a previous category. The specific extension criteria will be determined by which previous category you applied under and the date your application was approved.
Previous categories
- Highly Skilled Migrant programme (HSMP)
- Self employed lawyer
- Writer, composer or artist
- Business person
Settlement
Tier 1 General migrants will qualify for Indefinite Leave to Remain after completing five years in one or more eligible categories. This will require evidence of earnings to be shown, based on what was declared on the previous application. Evidence of knowledge of life in the UK will also be required.
