Applicants must show that they meet the following criteria:

• Attributes
  
  
  • Qualification,
  
  
  • Institution where studied
  
  
  • Immigration status during studies and/or research
  
  
  • Date of award


• English language


• Maintenance

The English requirement will automatically be met if the qualification is a bachelors degree or higher from a recognised UK institution
Maintenance will be met if it is shown that the applicant has access to sufficient personal savings for the 90 day consecutive period prior to the date of application. The precise amount will depend on whether the application is made from within or outside the UK and whether any dependants are to be included at the time of application.

It is not possible to extend Tier 1 Post Study Work from within the UK. However applicants can apply to switch into another immigration category, if the necessary criteria have been met.

Time spent on Tier 1 Post Study Work does not count towards the qualifying period for settlement (except 10 or 14 year long residence applications).
