In all cases you need to show that you meet the following criteria:
• 50 Points for Attributes (Qualifications, Salary, Advertising / Shortage occupation)
• 10 Points for English language
• 10 Points for Maintenance (funds)

There are four sub categories of Tier 2:
General
Skilled professionals that have an offer of employment. This has replaced the Work Permit scheme. The job offer must be for skilled employment. In most cases, this will also require evidence of advertising the post. There are some exceptions where advertising is not required.
Tier 2 (Intra Company Transfer)
Skilled and existing overseas employees required to transfer to the UK based branch of the organisation. This includes established staff, graduate trainees (as part of a structure training programme), and short term skills transfer.
Tier 2 (Sportsperson)
Leading sportspeople and coaches who are internationally established at the highest level, and will make a significant contribution to the development of their sport in the UK
Tier 1 (Minister of Religion)
Religious workers looking to enter the UK for more than two years to perform preaching or performing pastoral duties; work as a missionary; or work in a religious order within a community that involves a permanent commitment (e.g. a monastery or a convent.
