For students that have an offer to study with an approved education provider (sponsor). Tier 4 has replaced the student visa. The length of time a visa is granted for will depend on the duration of the course. You can apply from within the UK or overseas.
Your sponsor must issue you with a confirmation of acceptance for studies number (CAS). You will be required to show original documents on how you obtained the CAS.
You will also need to show that you have sufficient funds to support yourself and any dependents (known as maintenance). This figure will be calculated on the basis of where you are studying and the duration of the course.
