Your sponsor must be registered with the UK Border Agency and hold a sponsorship licence.
You need to show that you meet the following criteria:
• 30 Points – Attributes (a recognised course with a UK sponsor)
• 10 Points – Maintenance (funds)

There are two categories of student:
Tier 4 (General)
This is for people who want to come to the United Kingdom for their post -16 education (also known as ‘adult students’). The course must be at National Qualifications framework (NQF) level 3 or equivalent. Some short term study abroad programmes and English language courses are also accepted.
Tier 4 (Child)
This category is for children between 4 and 17 years old. The course must teach in line with National Qualification Framework (NQF) or in accordance with current (prevailing) independent school education inspection standards. Alternatively the course can be accepted by Ofsted (or equivalent body)
What evidence will I need to provide?
The specific documents will depend on the case. You must provide a 'confirmation of acceptance for studies' reference number. You will also need to evidence your ability to follow the course and pay course fees and living costs.
Prospective students and student visitors will continue to be applied in the same way as before.
